Family breakdown in panchkula (Social media)
National News: Even today, countless families across the country are silently collapsing under the crushing weight of financial distress and mounting debt. It is a crisis so deep that it extinguishes every last spark of hope, leaving individuals feeling helpless, broken, and unable to carry on — even for their loved ones. A heart-wrenching incident from Panchkula has once again exposed this grim reality: a debt-ridden family, overwhelmed by despair, chose to end their lives.
A shocking discovery was made on Monday night in Panchkula's Sector 27, where seven people were found dead inside a car. Vomit was spread all over the Hyundai car, and the signs of consuming poison were clear. Police investigation revealed that this entire family, fed up with the burden of debt, had committed suicide by consuming poison.
A suicide note found in the car was expressing their pain, in which it was written that they had become bankrupt and no one should trouble them. They also left their last farewell to their cousin.
Praveen Mittal, who was the head of this family, once used to run a scrap factory in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. But the business went into losses. Then he started a travel agency in Dehradun, but there too he suffered financial losses. The bank seized his house, car, and shop. Slowly Praveen and his family got trapped in the debt trap.
The burden of debt became so heavy that they could not see any way out. Even trying to make a living by driving a taxi did not bring relief. Eventually, he made the painful decision to give up life.
Stories of such families are common across the country. According to data from the National Crime Records Bureau, debt-related distress drives hundreds of thousands of people to take their lives every year.
These are not just statistics, but real lives that are breaking down.
