Mathura: Security has been tightened across Mathura after an alarming email threatened bomb attacks in three major religious cities—Mathura, Kashi and Ayodhya—before Diwali. The warning has prompted authorities to place Mathura on high alert, with increased surveillance at Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi, prominent temples, railway stations, bus terminals and other sensitive locations.

Police have been instructed to remain vigilant across both urban and rural areas. Security arrangements have also been strengthened at crowded public places as the festival approaches.

What Measures Have Been Taken to Strengthen Security?

Police teams are checking suspicious vehicles at major intersections and markets, while personnel are questioning individuals whose activities appear unusual. SSP Shlok Kumar visited Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi to review the arrangements and directed officials to ensure there were no lapses in security. Additional police personnel have been deployed around major temples, and regular patrolling has been intensified across police station jurisdictions.

Cyber Teams Investigate the Threatening Email

The cybercrime unit, along with the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU), SWAT, Special Operations Group (SOG) and social media cell, has been mobilised to investigate the threatening message. The cyber team is examining an email reportedly sent to the Municipal Commissioner to establish its origin, identify those responsible and determine the motive behind the threat.

Investigators are analysing technical evidence to trace the sender. Authorities have not yet disclosed any findings from the probe.

Vigilance Increased in Markets and Crowded Areas

With Diwali celebrations approaching, police surveillance has also been stepped up in markets and other crowded locations. Patrol teams are monitoring suspicious activities, while authorities are keeping a close watch on social media to prevent the spread of rumours.

SP City Rajiv Kumar Singh said the police force remains fully alert and that negligence at any level would not be tolerated. Officials have reiterated that security arrangements are being continuously reviewed to address any possible threat.
