Schools Closed In Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Mumbai, Kerala Due To Heavy Rain (X)
New Delhi: Due to the ongoing heavy rainfall, waterlogging, and the threat of landslides in many parts of the country, schools in several districts across states have been closed on July 9. Local administrations have declared a holiday for both government and private schools, following weather alerts and safety precautions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alert in Delhi-NCR, with the national capital recorded 34.9 mm rainfall in just 3 hours from 2:30 to 5:30 am. Due to heavy rains and bad weather, schools have been declared closed in many districts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Kerala and Karnataka.
Uttar Pradesh: Several districts in Uttar Pradesh have declared holidays for different classes, with all government and private schools for grades 1 to 12 closed in Ghaziabad, and classes for students up to grade 8 suspended in Mathura and Hathras. Local administrations have urged parents to remain vigilant due to the weather.
Uttarakhand: All educational institutions have been ordered to remain closed in three districts of Uttarakhand after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert. These districts include Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, and Nainital. Government and private schools, as well as Anganwadi centres, will remain closed.
Kerala: In view of the incessant rain and potential landslides in Kerala, the administration has decided to close schools and colleges in the following districts, including Wayanad, Kozhikode, and Malappuram. The administration has also advised people to avoid unnecessary travel.
Karnataka: Heavy rains continue to impact Shivamogga district in Karnataka. The administration has decided to extend the school holiday in Hosanagara and Sagar taluks. This decision was taken as a precautionary measure due to the continuous rainfall.
The students and parents are advised to check the DOE Delhi notifications on schools closure before planning to reach their schools tomorrow. Similarly, schools in Mumbai and Pune will remain open. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Maharashtra government stated that the weather warning level for the region was lowered, making it unnecessary to close schools.
