New Delhi: The North-East District Cyber Police have arrested three accused for allegedly duping people of their hard-earned money by promising attractive profits through Telegram. Three mobile phones have been recovered from their possession. The case involves a cyber fraud of ₹88,784.
North-East District DCP Rahul Alwal said the complainant, Mohan Govind, 41, was lured into investing money through Telegram with the promise of earning substantial profits. Falling for the offer, he transferred a total of ₹88,784 to three different bank accounts. An FIR (No. 29/2026) was registered at the cyber police station on October 24, 2026, under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
During the investigation, police found that ₹30,000 of the defrauded amount had been credited to Shoaib’s bank account. Based on bank transactions and other digital evidence, police apprehended Shoaib, 26, on October 25. Information obtained during questioning led to the arrests of Mohammad Owais, 22, and Mohammad Adil, 31.
The accused allegedly played a role in receiving the fraud proceeds through bank account details. Police are now examining bank accounts, digital evidence and transaction trails to trace the remaining amount and identify the final beneficiaries.
No previous criminal record of the accused has emerged so far, according to the investigation. Further investigation into the case is underway.
