A man in Hyderabad caused a stir on social media after he found a live worm in a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate, which he bought from Hyderabad metro on Friday. A user named, Robin Zaccheus shared a video on microblogging platform X with the receipt of his purchase, questioning the quality checks for "near-expiry products" and public health hazards.

He wrote, "Found a worm crawling in Cadbury chocolate purchased in Ratnadeep Metro Ameerpet today. Is there a quality check for these near-expiry products? Who is responsible for public health hazards?"

The post quickly gained traction, prompting netizens to urge Mr. Zaccheus to take action against the authorities. Suggestions included filing a complaint with Cadbury, seeking legal compensation, and comparing the incident to similar cases.

Assistant Food Controller to investigate

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) also took notice, confirming on X that their Food Safety team had been alerted and would address the issue promptly. Responding to Robin Zaccheus, the municipal corporation wrote, "The Concerned Food Safety team  Assistant Food Controller GHMC have been alerted on this issue and the same will be resolved at the earliest."

Cadbury Dairy Milk responded directly to Mr. Zaccheus' post, expressing regret for his experience and requesting more details about the purchase for investigation. They provided contact information for consumers to lodge complaints officially. They wrote, "Hi, Mondelez India Foods Private Limited (formerly Cadbury India Ltd) endeavours to maintain the highest quality standards, and we regret to note that you have had an unpleasant experience. To enable us to address your concern."
